When 11-year-old Marley Dias became frustrated by the lack of diversity in her school’s reading material, she decided to take matters into her own hands. In November 2015, she launched a campaign called #1000BlackGirlBooks, with the goal of collecting and donating 1,000 books that feature black girls as the main character. Now more than 350 of these books have been uploaded to the Internet Archive so that anyone can enjoy them--check them out here!

Alexander Shulgin’s career in chemistry research spanned four decades, half a dozen institutions, and more than 230 psychoactive drugs. Known as the “godfather of psychedelics”, he discovered entire families of new compounds and synthesized hundreds of new substances, most of which he tested on himself, his friends, and his family. Although Shulgin’s research was eventually interrupted by the DEA, the Internet Archive has uploaded digital copies of his research notes so that anybody can read them.
