{NAME}, We ask a lot of military families. Oftentimes their sacrifices on behalf of our country go unnoticed and underappreciated. That's why in April – and every month – we recognize and celebrate the amazing resiliency of children with parents or guardians who serve in the military. These children can face challenges unique to being part of a military family. They typically move more often, leaving communities, schools, teachers, and friendships behind. Military children can endure long stretches without seeing their military parent – missing out on both life's important events and evening catch-ups at the dinner table. I am inspired by these children and teens. They shoulder a burden, often quietly and out of the public eye. This month – the month of the military child – is an important time to remember that the honor and commitment of military service isn't limited to those who wear the uniform every day.
