Wishing you success, joy, and history-making moments in 2023. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ HAPPY NEW YEAR! Happy New Year from all of us at Ancient Origins! The departure of the old year and dawning of a new one naturally provides us with an opportunity for reflection. We close one chapter on the book of experiences and begin another with increased wisdom from the events of the last year and hope and ambitions to make the new year even better. For at least 4,000 years, ever since ancient Babylon, humans have been marking the beginning of a new year with resolutions. At the beginning of each year, which fell on the first new moon following the vernal equinox (in March), the ancient Babylonians made promises to their gods to return objects they borrowed and to pay off their debts. This promise to their deities may have helped them to follow through with their resolutions because they believed that a kept promise would mean the gods would favor them and a broken promise would anger the gods, who would send unfortunate situations into their lives for the next 12 months. While we may not have the pressure to please the gods to motivate us, by setting our goals we’re tapping into an ancient and powerful longing for a fresh start with each new year. Whether you aim to return borrowed objects or to learn something new, why not make this the best year you can? Your involvement is what keeps us growing and improving every year, bringing you the latest and most interesting stories about history, mystery, archaeology, science, and myth. We thank you for your continued support, and we wish you success and happiness in all that you do in 2023!  [Learn more about Jeeng]( DISCOVER YOUR DNA ORIGINS The day you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived… the highest resolution ancient DNA test is now available!
