Shock led to gratitude. Gratitude led to reflection. “How on earth did I get here?” I joined ATK in 2018 as a test cook for the books team, developing recipes for a wide range of cookbooks. And by wide I mean . . . wide. Foods from healthy [bowls]( to [everything chocolate](. Equipment from the [Instant Pot]( to the [air fryer](. Diets from [keto]( to [plant-based](. And many more. 2020 was the year that I, like many of you, discovered a new hobby. Some were baking sourdough, knitting sweaters, or mastering that long overdue DIY home project. I taught myself how to make videos. Did I stumble? Yes. Did I laugh as I fell? Also yes. Over time I learned everything I could about lighting, shooting, editing, and recording voice-overs. I started to get the hang of it. More importantly, I had fun. This hobby led me to my new position as the digital test cook. Since 2021 I’ve created over a hundred videos across America’s Test Kitchen’s social media platforms. Greatest hits include: my brown butter soy [Infinite Sauce]( [24 Days of Holiday Cooking Hacks]( and a [week-long series highlighting the air fryer](. . . . which led me to a spot on our TV show. I’m sorry, what? I wrote my own scripts. Took acting classes. Rehearsed. And rehearsed again. (And again.) Cooking alongside Julia Collin Davison felt like a dream come true.
