It snowed. And I still went there! I moved back to the state a couple years ago too. Am I a glutton for punishment? Maybe. But living in a place with times of year nicknamed “Stick Season” and “Mud Season,” you learn a few things. One is to lean into the season, whatever it may be. And right now, even though it doesn’t feel like spring here yet, it is in my house. I’m freshening up my kitchen with some spring cleaning. I weeded out my [utensil crock](. I [organized my spices]( (No joke, I had four jars of cumin and a cinnamon from 2012). Get this—I even organized my storage containers. One only needs so many old take-out containers. I didn’t take any guff. If it didn’t have a lid, bon voyage! I prefer glass so I put my [glass containers]( up front, [plastic]( to the back. I polled the rare few people I know with organized storage container drawers and found two main methods for keeping things tidy. Store containers with their tops on if you have the room. If you don’t, store all the lids together and stack the containers according to shape and size. I went with the latter and seem to be holding the line (so far). I even found some big fat asparagus stalks at the market this week. They weren’t remotely local but they were crisp and tender—and not to brag, but [I steamed them perfectly](. I hope spring has sprung where you are. And if it hasn’t—force it! The recipes in this newsletter are free for two days Want access to every recipe, review, and video?
