My mom was—and still is—really into holiday baking. She made batches and batches of cookies to give as gifts. My favorites were the “monster cookies,” which were basically huge chocolate chip cookies with pecans and walnuts. But then there were the Danish butter cookies that she learned how to make from her father, who was born in Denmark. And the gingerbread cookies that my little brother and I decorated together—in increasingly inappropriate ways as we entered our teen years. The jam thumbprints and the pecan sandies. I loved spending that time together with her in the kitchen. And now I’m excited to be bringing that joy to my two kids—Olive, age 4, and Toby, age 2. This year, we probably won’t be making quite as many cookies as my mom. (I’m not that much of a masochist!) But we will be baking a solid handful of my favorite ATK Kids recipes. Here, I’m highlighting some of my favorite kid-tested, kid-approved holiday baking recipes from two of the cookie-filled cookbooks by [America’s Test Kitchen Kids](.
