I listen to them while I walk. I listen to them while I cook. (I used to listen to them while I commuted . . . but, well, that hasn’t happened in a while.) I know I’m not alone in this community. [Proof]( and [The Walk-In]( are some of my favorite listens. But podcasts are not only for adults. Audio shows made for kids have been on the rise for the last couple years and are perfectly suited to this moment, with so many kids learning remotely and families dealing with unstructured time they’ve never had before. Podcasts are a fun, intimate way to pass time and to learn for the whole family (Bonus: no screens involved!). All this is why I’m particularly excited about the brand-new season of Mystery Recipe, our podcast for kids and their grown-ups from America’s Test Kitchen Kids! The second season of this show—all about the fun, fantastical, and fascinating sides of different kitchen ingredients—launched a couple weeks ago. Here’s where you can [check it out!]( I host this podcast, which comes out three times a week, along with Mitsy, who is an oven mitt (and my right-hand gal). This season we took on an intern—Parker, a delightful little pot holder who dreams of opening their own diner. Together, we explore a different ingredient each week (kids will enjoy guessing what the ingredient will be based on a series of mystery kitchen sounds). At the end of the season, we’ll use all the ingredients to cook a mystery recipe together. Will you be able to guess what it is? Spoiler alert! Today we are highlighting some kid-tested, kid-friendly recipes based on the very first week of the season, which is all about EGGS. (Don’t worry, none of these recipes are THE mystery recipe.) Be sure to check out the [America’s Test Kitchen Kids website]( took down the paywall in March and all recipes, experiments, and activities will remain free moving forward!
