In the Americares Family Clinic in El Salvador, nurses listen to the needs of patients and provide compassionate care, whether about chronic conditions, acute illness or disease outbreaks like Zika, and provide information and hope that health is on the way. In war-torn Ukraine, nurses use critical Americares equipment like ultrasound machines and test blood in clinics supporting the LGBTQ+ community, which is reeling from months of violence and conflict. These nurses, both in the U.S. and abroad, are often on the front lines of disaster, and they deserve to know we support and appreciate them.
