It was a day that changed the world, changed our nation, and will forever live in infamy. Like so many Americans, I was deeply affected by those events, which led me to make a decision that would change the course of my life. In the wake of 9/11, I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard, answering the call to serve our country and fight for freedom. For eight years, I proudly served in a USAF Combat Search and Rescue squadron, volunteering for two combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism. I fought beside and witnessed the unwavering dedication of my brothers and sisters in arms - our brave servicemen and women who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. Service is not merely a job; it is a way of life. But times have changed, Friend. Far too many politicians have forgotten what their actual job in Washington is: to SERVE. I’m tired of watching politicians run for office to gain celebrity status, social media fame, book deals, and ego boosts. Too many politicians want to simply “be” in Congress, they have no interest in actually “doing” the work. I refuse to sit back and watch power-hungry Democrats collect a paycheck bigger than what most hard-working Americans will ever see. Our nation deserves leaders who have walked the walk and who understand the sacrifices our veterans make every day to keep our nation free. Service is in my blood.
