Unfortunately, it’s a problem that has occurred throughout history. This isn’t the first time singers wrote songs about it, but this time, it really struck a chord with people. In the 1800s, a French economist, Frederic Bastiat, wrote a booklet called The Law. Bastiat describes that law is fundamentally force and violence, and the only moral use of force is self-defense of life, liberty, and property. Bastiat writes about the producers versus the plunderers. The Rich Men North of Richmond, aka the politicians and the bureaucratic class in Washington, D.C., are the plunderers. They plunder the fruits of the producers - business owners and laborers - through taxation and regulations. This isn’t a new phenomenon. However, what is new is the millions waking up to the plundering. And what happens when millions realize they are being plundered? That’s what we’re doing at the Foundation for Economic Education. Not only are we giving copies of The Law to high school students, but FEE in the Classroom is countering radical indoctrination by going into classrooms across the country to teach young Americans the principles of free markets, individual liberty, and limited government. Our goal is to teach 75,000 students the principles of liberty this year. I want to send you a copy of The Law by supporting FEE today. [Friend, can you help support FEE — and receive a copy of The Law by Frederic Bastiat by donating $10, $25, $50, or any amount? This program uniquely challenges high school students to think outside the box to challenge the mainstream narrative. In a single day, an average of 75–300 students engage with FEE’s faculty of acclaimed instructors through compelling lectures, exciting economic experiments, engaging group discussions, and Q&As. Students learn how the core principles of individual liberty and free-market economics apply to their daily lives, communities, careers, and the state of the nation. [Get your copy of The Law today ]( Friend, FEE has a long history of fighting socialism. Before the collapse of the Soviet Empire, I smuggled books (and raised money to support book smuggling) into Eastern European countries such as Poland and into the Soviet Union itself. I understand how the ideas of liberty can change the course of history. That’s why FEE in the Classroom is very important. Now, they’re building a legacy of freedom by educating high school students.
