February: The perfect dinner & a movie for Valentine’s Day. Does talk about food make you hungry? Get what you're craving now at [www.amazon.com/restaurants]( [Amazon Restaurants] [Four choices to suit your mood]( Four pairings to suit your mood By Jackie Varriano Love it or leave it, February 14 and all the hearts and flowers that come along with it are fast approaching. No matter your romantic situation, we’ve got the perfect dinner and movie combination for celebrating with your boo, hanging with the family, or snuggling with a furry friend. [Loving]( Perfect for: Anyone looking to celebrate the magic of true love against all obstacles This film is based on the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who took on the US court system to overturn state laws that prohibited interracial marriage in the late 1950s. The film spares the audience tedious courtroom drama and instead focuses on the couple's lives and their love for each other. What to eat: Give a nod to Virginia while watching this historical drama. That means grabbing some country ham along with some buttermilk biscuits and grits. Don’t skimp on dessert either. We recommend peanut butter pie. [The Lobster]( Perfect for: Anyone looking for a break from the usual Valentine’s Day trope This 2016 absurdist black comedy turns the idea of finding a perfect soulmate upside down. Colin Farrell plays a man who, after being dumped by his wife, must find a new mate within 45 days or be turned into the animal of his choice. It’s a quirky take on the notion of love and companionship that will leave you grateful that things aren't quite so bleak. What to eat: You'll want something comforting to nosh on while settling in for this film. Grab a nice bottle of red or whip up a Campari and soda (a drink that makes more than one appearance in the film), throw together a salad, and order in platters of hearty pasta to get you through this strange trip. [Ghostbusters]( Perfect for: Anyone looking to inject a little humor and friendship into their Valentine’s Day Gather up anyone who likes to laugh for this 2016 reboot of the classic ’80s franchise. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon are four whip-smart ladies battling supernatural forces in New York City. There’s plenty of slime and love in the friendship form—plus cameos from most of the original cast. What to eat: This film is about four women on the go—they don’t have time to dine out when there are ghosts on the loose! Instead, they order Chinese food. In perfect homage, go to Amazon Restaurants and order fried rice, lo mein, and all your usual favorites. [Zootopia]( Perfect for: Anyone who’ll be cuddling up with their favorite pet Buckle in for this romping 2016 film that pits predator against prey. No matter your age, you’ll fall in love with officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) as they dash around Zootopia to get to the bottom of a predatory mystery. What to eat: We’re recommending going vegetarian on this one, in light of the film’s animal subjects. Channel the vibes of Nangi the yoga-loving elephant and go for a nice saag paneer with rice and naan. Doughnuts are the most fitting dessert when it comes to this film. Unless you’ve got a line on pawpsicles, that is. Jackie Varriano is a Seattle-based food writer and editor for Zagat and Seattle Met Bride & Groom.
