Thank you for being a part of our community on Independence Day and every day. [Alzheimer's Association]( [DONATE NOW]( [We are united in our fight to end Alzheimer's.]( Dear Friend, Today is Independence Day, when many of us might gather with family and friends and celebrate our nation's freedom. On this day of celebration with loved ones, we also think of those we've lost to Alzheimer's disease — the fathers who loved fireworks, the mothers who never missed the parades, the grandparents who made us smile with stories from the past. Their lives and their legacies inspire us to achieve a healthier future for all. We stand strong in our commitment that we will realize our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Today, at the Alzheimer's Association, we fight for another kind of freedom — that we'll reach the day, together, when we'll all finally be free of this devastating disease. A day when no one will have to fear Alzheimer's, and no more lives will be lost to any form of dementia. That includes the lives of America's brave veterans. Research has shown that veterans — especially those who have sustained traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder — are at higher risk of dementia. For America's heroes, and for the people we love, our fight must continue. Even on this national holiday, Alzheimer's caregivers are working hard providing care and support to the people they love, while scientists around the world are advancing research toward new methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure. We know holidays can be a difficult time for those who've experienced loss and for families who are caring for someone living with Alzheimer's. If you are in need of care or support, or you know someone who needs help, we are here all day, every day. You can reach us at our free 24/7 Helpline (800.272.3900) or find helpful resources at [alz.org]( including [Alzheimer's Navigator®]( [ALZ Connected®]( and links to [local support in your community](. As you celebrate this very special day, please know that you play an important role in furthering our mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. Thank you for being part of our caring community, united in purpose, and for all that you do to advance our fight.
