Parkinsonâs disease is a progressive neurodegenerative brain condition that destroys cells in the area of your brain that controls movement. Sufferers have a diminished supply of dopamine because the nerve cells that produce it have died. The less dopamine you make, the less control you have over your movements. Here are three you can try at home. - L-carnitine. L-carnitine is an amino acid that enhances memory and improves muscle control. Your body converts L-carnitine into acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC). Thereâs also strong evidence that high levels of EGCG in green tea also protect against Parkinsonâs. 7 But buyer beware: When it comes to catechin content, itâs hard to know what youâre getting in commercial teas. Iâve only found one brand that delivered anywhere close to my recommended 50 mg dose. Called Teavana Green Tea Gyokuro, it provides 86 mg per serving. To maximize antioxidant content, pour boiling â not just hot â water over your tea leaves and let steep for 10 minutes before drinking.
