More than 100 women each day die from this dreadful condition. But the most tragic part of that statistic is that many breast cancer patients could have been saved…if they had been taking a dietary supplement that makes an existing therapy more effective. A supplement that the FDA tried to outlaw... I’m talking about N-Acetylcysteine, or NAC for short. Here at the Sears Institute for Anti-Aging Medicine, I’ve been recommending NAC to my patients for more than three decades. It has been shown effective in treating dozens of conditions – including: - Cognitive decline - High blood sugar - COPD and chronic bronchitis - Hearing loss - Eye disease - Infertility - Liver and kidney disease - Depression And thanks to its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties, NAC is also highly effective for preventing and treating Covid.1 Now, a new study shows that combining NAC with an existing therapy can help battle the most aggressive kind of breast cancer.2 Let me explain... The battle against advanced breast cancer often fails because of resistance in cancer cells. But researchers at the University of Basel, Switzerland, found that NAC increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to a drug therapy called alpelisib. Taking the two together significantly slows the growth and spread of tumors. Unfortunately, a few years ago, the FDA – bowing down to their cronies at Big Pharma – tried to outlaw the use of NAC as a dietary supplement. They wanted to reclassify it as a prescription drug. This dramatically reduced the number of people taking NAC. The FDA’s explanation for this was outrageous. For one thing, the components your body needs to make its own NAC are found in dozens of everyday foods. This alone proves that NAC is a dietary supplement, not a drug. Second, a little digging reveals that before the ban, Big Pharma had a large stake in the billion-dollar prescription NAC market – including numerous drug giants.3 It’s just further evidence of where the agency’s loyalty lies. Why NAC works so well NAC is a highly effective precursor to glutathione, your body’s strongest antioxidant. Glutathione is found in every cell in your body and is a powerful weapon against oxidative stress, inflammation, and free radical damage to cells and tissues. Glutathione is also essential for your immune health and for fighting cellular damage. And studies show it helps prevent and repair damage to mitochondria – the tiny but critical power generators that make up your body’s master energy system.4,5 The good news is that after incredible outrage from people like you, the FDA’s draconian ban on NAC failed. After a hiatus of more than a year, NAC supplements are once again available. The best NAC products come without binders, fillers, and other nasty byproducts like magnesium stearate. I recommend taking 600 mg by tablet or capsule per day. After a couple of weeks, take 600 mg twice a day. 3 more ways to boost glutathione There are other nutritional supplements that will also help increase your natural production of glutathione. Here’s what I suggest: - Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA): This antioxidant helps regenerate glutathione and increases its effectiveness. Take 250 mg a day. - Curcumin: This powerful spice enhances the synthesis of glutathione. It’s not easy to get as much as you need from food. I suggest supplementing with 1,000 mg daily. Look for a product with piperine to boost bioavailability. - Grape Seed Extract: This extract helps switch on your glutathione production. Take 500 mg a day. But hands down, the fastest, easiest, and most effective way to boost your glutathione levels is to get an intravenous (IV) cocktail. Here at the Sears Institute for Anti-Aging Medicine, we add glutathione to our IV “Myers cocktail,” which also contains a mix of vitamin C, magnesium, calcium, and a B-vitamin complex. If you’re interested in getting glutathione IV therapy and you’re in the South Florida area, just call my staff at 561-784-7852 to set up an appointment.
