The ribbed brim is knit in one color, then the colorwork pattern is worked until the decrease for the crown. We change back to the color of the brim for the decrease so there is no complicated color patterning for the top – just a single color as you decrease the crown. I love getting the ones that come in multicolor cakes and deconstructing them. Then, I always have colors that match for my smaller cotton projects like these! You can use any DK weight cotton yarn (DK is a weight category #3 yarn), or use worsted cotton yarn if that’s what you have. They will just turn out a bit larger.
