North Texans gather in solidarity after deadly rally in Virginia
North Texans [gathered Sunday night]( to show support for Charlottesville following the deadly clash between white supremacists and counter protesters Saturday that left one dead and 19 injured.
In Southlake, about 100 attendees sang âThis Little Light of Mineâ and lit candles in memory of Heather Heyer, who was killed Saturday when a car plowed through a crowd of counter protesters. Another rally was planned for the Lee Park and Arlington Hall Conservancy in Dallas, and additional rallies were held around the country.

Tony Romo to make CBS broadcast debut calling Chiefs-Seahawks preseason game
Tony Romo will [make his debut as a broadcaster for CBS]( on Friday, August 25, when the Kansas City Chiefs takes on the Seattle Seahawks in a preseason game, the first call of the season for the Cowboysâ former quarterback, according to The New York Daily News. Heâll be joined by veteran broadcaster Jim Nantz.
His first Cowboys game as a broadcaster will be Nov. 5, where heâll work with Nantz when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the âBoys, and again for the Thanksgiving Day game between the Cowboys and the Los Angeles Chargers.
When do we play? The Dallas Cowboysâ [full 2017 schedule]( and a home opener vs. the Giants.

Texas House, Senate play 'cat and mouse' on school funding, retirees' health care
On Sunday, Texas lawmakers were deciding whether to add more funding to public schools, ease the impact of a hit coming to retired teachersâ finances for health care, and create a panel to study school finance, [all part of the legislatureâs special session.](
The Senate went back and forth on a number for school funding and reductions on increases for retireesâ health insurance, as the House held back on passing a bill creating the aforementioned finance panel. For more on Sundayâs happenings and the rest of the special session, [head here.](

A 71-year-old carjacking victim [called her reunion with her dog Pinkie "a dream come true"]( Saturday, a week after a man stealing her vehicle pushed the animal out on the street in Fort Worth.
Pamela Wilson had left her vehicle running with Pinkie inside about noon Aug. 5 while she went into a store to buy dog food. Police say it was taken by Joseph Bragg, 35, who was arrested soon after.

After President Donald Trump didnât call out white supremacists during his speech Saturday following the violent in Virginia, many public figures and politicians took statements into their own hands -- including prominent Trump faith adviser Robert Jeffress, a Dallas megachurch pastor.
[Jeffress took to Twitter to ask for prayer and peace in Charlottesville](Â and the nation as a whole, and went on to tweet âLet there be no misunderstanding. Racism is sin. Period.â Others, including Marco Rubio, Rev. Jack Graham and Cory Gardner made statements.
