Kidnapper who died in burning RV blamed victim in call to TV station
Arlington police found [a man dead in a smoldering RV early Thursday after he shot the mother of his children, freed the two kids and killed himself]( at the end of a chase across multiple counties.
The man has been identified by his family as 40-year-old Tony Kelly Sr., according to WFAA-TV (Channel 8).
His son, 20-year-old Tony Kelly Jr., told the station that is father's girlfriend was staying at a domestic violence shelter. The couple’s children, described as a toddler and a 3-year-old, both have special needs, he said.
The victim, who has not been identified, was in the RV about 2:30 a.m. Thursday when she texted 911 saying she and her kids had been abducted.
The RV finally came to a stop on Interstate 30 near Fielder Road in Arlington. A fire broke out in the RV, and the gunman apparently opened the door for the children. As authorities pulled them over a guardrail to safety, they heard a single gunshot from inside the RV as flames engulfed it.

Frisco, McKinney in battle for nation's fastest-growing city, but a Texas rival edges them out
Once again, [Texas’ sprawling suburbs dominate the U.S. Census Bureau’s list of the 15 fastest-growing large cities]( in the country.
Between 2015 and 2016, Conroe — a Montgomery County suburb just past The Woodlands on Interstate 45 north of Houston — grew 7.8 percent, more than any city with more than 50,000 residents, data released this week shows.
That’s also more than 11 times the nation’s growth rate, 0.7 percent.
The numbers add fuel to an economic hot streak that officials have been parlaying into still more residents and businesses. Experts have said for years that new Texans are lured by a booming job market and cheaper costs of living than they’ll find on the coasts.

Arochi, who is appealing his conviction, filed a motion through his attorney to have District Judge Mark Rusch taken off his case. Attorney Steve Miears stated that the judge violated Arochi's due process rights by unlawfully interfering with the attorney-client relationship.
Visiting Judge Susan Rankin, who heard arguments during a brief hearing on Monday, granted the defense's motion on Thursday. Ă‚ A new judge will be assigned in the coming days to handle any post-conviction matters.
