Texans could carry a handgun without a license under a House bill that's stuck in the chamber
A bill that would [allow Texans to carry a handgun without a license]( is working its way through the Texas House.
It passed through a committee last month, the furthest such a proposal has ever moved through the Legislature.
Supporters say the proposal establishes "constitutional carry" and protects Texans' Second Amendment rights. Critics decry the legislation as outlandish and dangerous, as it lets people pack pistols without taking any training or gun safety courses. Law enforcement groups have said they're concerned the bill would make it harder for them to verify if someone is legally carrying.
Law enforcement and gun-control advocacy groups continue to resist the proposal, despite indicators that it probably won't clear the House.
