Abbott rails against Travis County as it tops new sanctuary cities report Travis County denied more federal immigration holds than anywhere in the country during a one-week period, according to a report released Monday that local officials say misrepresents data. Gov. Greg Abbott [isn't pleased by Travis County's distinctive ranking](. "Today's report from DHS is deeply disturbing and highlights the urgent need for a statewide sanctuary city ban in Texas," Abbott said in a written statement. Abbott added that denying ICE detainer requests was dangerous and should be criminalized. Although reports over the weekend indicated that [team owner Jerry Jones]( does not want Romo going to Houston, both Houston and Denver appear to still be in the race. [Possibilities for Romo (including a trade)]( were among the topics on the latest episode of SportsDayDFW's "Ballzy" podcast. Pool/The Dallas Morning News) Prayer in schools A federal court ruled this week that a North Texas district [can continue student-led prayers at its school board meetings]( in another case that tested the boundaries of religious expression in government. A former Birdville ISD student told the court that the district's practice violated the Constitution by pressuring students and others to participate. However, a three-judge panel from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the district's "polite requests" did not coerce prayer. Earlier: The Texas attorney general's concerns over the legality of a Frisco high school's prayer room get [called a 'publicity stunt' by the school district](. Temperatures climbed to 89 degrees at Love Field by early afternoon as blue skies and warm weather greeted North Texas on the first day of spring. [Temperatures should stay in the mid-80s until a front arrives Thursday](, forecasters say. Meteorologists expect strong to severe storms throughout the area as the front makes its way into North Texas by Friday afternoon. There's a 40 to 60 percent chance of storms by week's end. Health and politics Hospitals: The Texas Senate is slated to vote this week on a bill its author says will protect hospitals from corrupt administrators. But experts say that the bill lacks something fundamental: a requirement that the state [vet the backgrounds of would-be hospital owners]( before giving them licenses. Doctors: The Texas Senate on Monday gave preliminary approval to a bill that would ban parents from suing [a doctor who doesn't tell them their baby has a disability]( or counsel them on their options, including abortion. Nursing homes: Rep. Senfronia Thompson filed a bill that would [increase poor Texas nursing home residents' allowances for the first time in 12 years](. Thompson's bill would increase the state's "personal needs allowance" to $75 a month. Since 2005, the amount has been $60. Finally, A Muppet with autism [will soon make her TV debut on Sesame Street](. The character will be introduced to TV audiences in the "Meet Julia" episode airing April 10 on both PBS and HBO.
