The prosecutors haven't been paid for hundreds of hours of work because of a local taxpayer's lawsuit [claiming that their fees are too high](. McCarthy/The Dallas Morning News Affordable housing shortage leads to increase in unsheltered North Texans New data from the annual homeless census shows [a significant increase in the number of unsheltered people]( in Dallas and Collin counties. There were 3,789 homeless people counted this year in Dallas and Collin counties, down from 3,810 last year. However, 1,087 homeless residents were unsheltered, up from 739 in 2016. A shortage of affordable housing units is making it more difficult to find homes for unsheltered North Texas residents. More Dallas suburbs are also experiencing increases in homeless populations.
