Haslet day care teacher pinned, hit and scratched 4-year-old, mom says
A Haslet day care teacher has been arrested [after a boy's mother found video that appears to show her pinning the child to a classroom floor]( and hitting him several times.
Tracy Lynn Ludwig, 36, was charged with injury to a child Nov. 9. and bonded out of the Tarrant County jail the following day.
Kindsie Andreason of Wise County, northwest of Fort Worth, posted photos on Facebook of bruises and scratches on her 4-year-old son Hunter's face and neck â along with a video of the incident she says caused them.
The security footage shows a boy lying on his back behind a toy shelf, with a woman straddling him. She holds his wrists for several seconds, then begins smacking his head several times.
And:Â A man who firebombed two department stores in a Fort Worth mall in May [was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison](.
Plano:Â As the suburban city of 285,000 continues to add high-rise buildings, [first responders have to adapt and train using new scenarios](.Â

Dallasâ Colin Allred still mum on Pelosi, as Vela and other defectors imperil her bid for Speaker
Colin Allred, the Dallas Democrat who ousted veteran Rep. Pete Sessions, [remained noncommittal Monday on whether he will support Nancy Pelosi for speaker]( â a silence that grew increasingly relevant after 16 other Democrats released a letter vowing to derail her bid.
Rep. Marc Veasey of Fort Worth announced his support Monday, telling The Dallas Morning News âIâm 100 percent behind Nancy.â
That leaves just two Texas Democrats still mum: Allred and Rep. Al Green of Houston.
But the anti-Pelosi bloc â including one Texan, Rep. Filemon Vela of Brownsville â may already be big enough to throw the leadership race into turmoil.
Meanwhile:Â How will newly empowered Texas Democrats [approach President Trump's NAFTA revamp](?

Dallas Countyâs new DA could lose all justice in going for murder in the Botham Jean case
From the Dallas Morning News Editorial Board:
When a community is seeking justice for a senseless act, itâs understandable to debate the appropriate level of accountability. Thatâs certainly true in the shooting death of Botham Jean, an innocent man gunned down in his own home by off-duty Dallas police officer Amber Guyger.
We believe John Creuzot, Dallas Countyâs incoming district attorney, has very good legal reasons to assert that Guyger, who has been fired, should be charged with murder, and not manslaughter, in Jeanâs case.
But as Creuzot works through this case, [we caution him to be mindful that in going for the most serious charge in this terrible and bizarre case](, he takes a greater risk of a jury returning a not guilty verdict. Convicting on a murder charge, with its stiffer sentence, will be a tougher case to win, especially when a police officer is involved â and especially when there are so many questions surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.
Editorial: Texasâ private jails and prisons are saving dollars and costing lives. [That's a trade we must stop](.
Commentary:Â [Sex trafficking is a human crisis](, and we must recognize and confront it.

Finally...
Inside Dallas' most wish-listed Airbnb, an urban tree house near White Rock Lake
Nestled in a woodsy neighborhood near White Rock Lake [is a much sought-after rental home that doesnât seem like itâs in Dallas at all](.
From the living room of this natural refuge there's no sign of a road, only a footbridge over a creek. The tree house feels isolated and surrounded by flora â Japanese maples, bald cypress and bamboo.
The home is hidden, but itâs also more well known than one might expect. In the past year, the tree house has hosted hundreds of guests and is Dallasâ most wish-listed location on the home rental website Airbnb.
Scott and Danielle Kaserman, both 34, bought the place in 2013.
The couple had high-stress jobs in advertising and real estate and the home, they said, relieved much of the stress.
