Rep. [Beto O'Rourke raised an astonishing $38.1 million in three months](, as Democrats in Texas and nationwide showered him with donations for his bid to oust Sen. Ted Cruz.
The haul smashed previous records for a U.S. Senate contest, and assures that the hard fought race, already the nation's costliest, remains on top of the 2018 list.
O'Rourke's haul is more than triple the $12 million that Cruz said he raised from July through September.

The jam-packed roadway, one of the few east-west routes in fast-growing Collin and Denton counties, is badly in need of relief. But the deeper the Texas Department of Transportation gets in the arduous public process of building consensus among citizens, the more frustrated and dug-in the public seems to be.
This gridlock — both on the highway and in public opinion — [sounds a lot like what Dallas faced nearly four decades ago as it tussled with TxDOT over how to handle North Central Expressway](: congestion, safety concerns, deteriorating infrastructure — plus residential, commercial and retail property in the path of progress.

Top officers at developer Leon Capital Group say they hit pause on the construction to fine tune plans for the one-block project called The Academic.
"The plan right now is to finish up all the design project and start construction before the end of the year," said Leon Capital managing director David Cocanougher.

North Texans likely saw some clouds they’re not used to seeing Friday morning. The clouds looked like waves floating over Dallas-Fort Worth.
