Nelson, O'Rourke sing together as Nelson unveils new 'Vote 'em out' election song
When country music living legend Willie Nelson took the stage on Saturday night at the outdoor concert he was headlining, [hundreds of people started filing out of the venue to get home.](
Turns out, those people weren't there to hear Willie sing. They came to hear Beto O'Rourke speak, and the Democrat from El Paso had just finished delivering his remarks.
Nelson, along with Grammy-nominated soul singer Leon Bridges, a Fort Worth native, and other Texas artists Joe Ely, Carrie Rodriguez and Tameca Jones, performed at the packed free concert in Austin in support of O'Rourke's challenge to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.
O'Rourke, a former punk rock musician, briefly joined Nelson on stage â sans guitar â to sing the hit song "On the Road Again,"Â [a nod to his visiting all 254 counties in Texas to meet with voters of all stripes.](
Nelson closed the night by unveiling a new song inspired by the election. "If you don't like who's in there, vote 'em out," he sang.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Brett Maher's game-winning kick: 'He really should be applauded'
For the first time in his NFL career, Brett Maher ended a game in the middle of the field with his teammates surrounding him in celebration.
The first-year Cowboys kicker [nailed a 38-yard field goal as time expired Sunday afternoon](, giving Dallas a 26-24 victory over the Detroit Lions.
"It's a big moment for me, personally, for my family as well," Maher said. "Just to have the trust of the team and Coach Garrett to put me in that situation, it gives me a lot of confidence going forward."

A DeSoto mom sought help from the police. Instead, they brutalized her family, she and witnesses say
Sammie Anderson says she taught her four sons to trust DeSoto police and to stay out of trouble. They got to know officers based at their schools, and joined the Dallas suburbâs police ride-along program.
One evening in August, her two oldest boys, now in their 20s, got into a heated argument, with one picking up a tool and throwing it in his truck.
Anderson, fearing they might hurt each other, turned to the police.
