Fort Worth officer killed in robbery was the 'rock' who held his unit together
Fort Worth police officer Garrett Hull was a 17-year veteran of the force. He died Friday night after trying to stop a robbery.
Garrett Hull was the glue who held his Fort Worth police unit together â a rock who loved the department so much he came back to serve it after he left it for two years.
On Friday morning, Hull was shot in the head while investigating a robbery at a Fort Worth bar. He died at 9:40 that night at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Dallas must deal with its 'monument to white supremacy'
From city columnist Robert Wilonsky:
Dallas City Hall live-streams and records and posts to its website every meeting of the Dallas City Council. But the video shot during Wednesday's meeting is incomplete: Approximately 34 restive minutes are missing from The Official Record.
Into those 34 minutes of turbulence stepped the Rev. Michael Waters, founder of Joy Tabernacle A.M.E. Church on Holmes Street in South Dallas. Dressed head to toe in dark blue, his top adorned with a button featuring the smiling visage of Botham Jean, Waters â the activist, author and professor â strode to the lectern reserved for people addressing the council.
The mic was muted, but it didn't matter. The room quieted as he approached the podium; we could hear Waters' roar even in the back rows.
[Waters began by addressing not the fresh wound, but an ancient one still raw: the Confederate War Memorial in the founders' cemetery just outside City Hall](.

The sequence that caused No. 15 TCU to implode against No. 4 Ohio State, 40-28
ARLINGTON -- TCU played powerful Ohio State on Saturday night to get a feel for where its young team is three games into the season, coach Gary Patterson said.
The verdict: [Good enough to push the No. 4 Buckeyes into the fourth quarter but not ready yet to close the deal.](
TCU gave up an eight-point lead in the third quarter during a disastrous sequence and could not recover, losing 40-28 before a turnout of 64,362 at AT&T Stadium.
A stretch of less than five minutes of game-time during the third quarter doomed the Frogs (2-1). In that implosion, there was a 20-point swing in the score.

Finally...
Are the Cowboys and Giants living in the past?
From sports columnist Tim Cowlishaw
NBC loves this historic matchup because you've got the biggest market in the league (and by far the more popular of the two teams sharing that market) against the constant ratings success that is the Cowboys. Fans like to live in the past.
Between them, the Giants and Cowboys own nine of the NFC's 27 Super Bowl victories, even if Dallas' most recent triumph pushes some memories to the limit. [And yet these storied franchises leave us scratching our heads today](, wondering if maybe their determination to relive the past doesn't represent some kind of glaring mistake.
