DA wants suspect put to death for Dallas officer's slaying
The Dallas County District Attorney [is seeking the death penalty]( for the man accused of killing a Dallas police officer and wounding his partner and a Home Depot loss prevention officer.Â
Armando Luis Juarez, 30, faces one count of capital murder, one count of attempted capital murder, one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant in the April 24 shooting.Ă‚
Juarez's criminal record doesn't show any violent offenses. But he had been arrested twice in the five months before the fatal shooting: on a felony theft charge in December and on an unlawful use of a motor vehicle charge in January.Ă‚

Fast-growing youth sports company Blue Star Sports [is dropping the name that tied it to a certain NFL franchise]( with a similar logo. The company will now go by Stack Sports.
From its earliest days, the Frisco-based company that sells tech services to teams and athletes hitched its reputation to the Dallas Cowboys. It scored an investment by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' family. It closed its first deal in a conference room at Valley Ranch, the former Cowboys headquarters. And it moved into the football team's current headquarters, The Star in Frisco.

"The Blue Star name and association with the Cowboys will forever be part of the business," president and chief executive Alex Alt said. But, he added, "we wanted a brand that we felt could be versatile across all sports, all geographies, all genders.

There's a tax-free weekend for gardeners now, and we're stocking up for summer
Most of us are familiar with the tax-free weekend associated with the start of school in August. In fact, these state-funded end-of-summer discounts are nearly 20 years old.Â

She developed a niche as an artist creating inspirational drawings for college graduates on their caps. “I didn’t have a job yet. So I tweeted the cap and it went viral. Finally...
Tuesday is the three-month birthday of Dallas ISD trustee Miguel Solis and wife Jacqueline Nortman's first child, Olivia. Born with a critical congenital heart defect, Olivia has yet to leave the hospital -- in intensive care for nearly all her young life.
But there's a ray of hope that things will change for the better.
[Olivia received a new heart, successfully undergoing a heart transplant procedure]( at Children's Medical Center Dallas that went from Monday evening into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Solis — who has been sleeping at the hospital in his daughter's room for the past three months — was getting ready to go to work when Children's transplant coordinator came in to tell him and Nortman about the new heart.
