Immigration judges, attorneys worry that Sessionsâ quotas will cut into justice in clogged court system
A case takes nearly 900 days to make its way through the backlogged immigration courts of Texas. The national average is about 700 days in a system sagging with nearly 700,000 cases.

Quotas planned for the nationâs 334 immigration judges will just make the backlog worse by increasing appeals and questions about due process, says Ashley Tabaddor, Los Angeles-based president of the National Association of Immigration Judges.
Some have even called the slowdown from the backlog âde facto amnesty.âÂ

H-E-B plans for Mansfield still alive, city officials told
New retail developments in Mansfield may just be the spark to get San Antonio-based H-E-B to build a store in the southern suburb. It has owned property there for a few years.
Monday night, [H-E-B representatives told the Mansfield City Council the company is still planning to open a store]( in the fast-growing Tarrant County suburb.  The City Council approved on a first reading revisions to the site plan that included moving the store's gasoline pumps and some other pad sites for restaurants. Â
But no timetable was given for when the store may begin construction or open, said city of Mansfield spokeswoman Belinda Willis.Â
H-E-B owns property throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. So far, the company has decided to expand in D-FW with its Central Market stores. Finally ...
Pappy wasn't there to teach me how to drive, but I could feel his presence in his Chevy pickup
From contributor Mary Catherine Wells:
I remember that car like the back of my hand. In my earliest memory of the car I sit on those Mexican blanket seats in between Pappy and Dylan, driving up to the Sonic Drive-In to get a root beer float.
I will play that memory in my head forever and never forget, for if I could go back to that day, I would. Leaning on Pappy, hearing his laugh, him joking about me getting behind the wheel one day.
In September of 2014, Pappy was admitted to the hospital with what we thought was pneumonia. At the time it wasn't a big deal and we, or at least I, assumed he would be out soon. After about a month, he was transferred to Medical City in Dallas and put into the intensive care unit. This confused me because I didn't know how bad the sickness was progressing or what it had turned into.
On Dec. 12, 2014, Pappy passed away.
