Dallas officials say they'll get rain-soaked potholes filled as soon as they can.
Assistant City Manager Majed Al-Ghafry said heavy rains always cause some roads to deteriorate. He wrote in a memo sent to the City Council on Friday night that the city has already filled about 500 potholes during the recent stretch of rains and that [City Hall won't know the full extent of the issue until Dallas begins to dry out.](
"Once the storm goes away, these things are not going to wait," Al-Ghafry said in an interview. "We're going to immediately and methodically address them. And we're going to deploy all of the repair crews to take care of those."
The city has 17 two-person public works crews that will be on "pothole patrol." Ten more street division employees and a supervisor will also assist. And the city has up to five contract crews that can help city workers fill about 50 potholes a day between them, Al-Ghafry said.

Southlake Carroll ISD reaches settlement with football coach Hal Wasson, according to source
Southlake Carroll ISD and embattled football coach [Hal Wasson reached a settlement agreement on Sunday, but it is still pending board approval]( according to a source close to the situation.Â
The Carroll school board is scheduled to meet Monday night to make it official.Â
According to the source, the settlement agreement involves Wasson leaving the program.Â
Wasson had been on administrative leave since Jan. 24 while the district conducted an investigation into the football program. In 11 years, he amassed a 121-26 record at Carroll and won a state championship in 2011.Â

Crews battle blaze near site of explosion
A northwest [Dallas apartment complex blocks from a house that exploded and killed a girl Friday was evacuated Sunday afternoon]( after a gas leak was reported.Â
About 2:50 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue crews helped evacuate 90 units at the Chapel Creek apartments in the 3400 block of Hidalgo Drive, spokesman Jason Evans said.Â
Atmos Energy discovered the leak while surveying the area after Friday's deadly house explosion, he said.
On Sunday night, Dallas Fire-Rescue was back in the neighborhood as firefighters battled a blaze at a white brick house on the corner of Mixon and Almazan drives, less than a mile from Friday's explosion.Â
Officials were evacuating residents on Almazan from Mixon Drive to Marsh Lane.Â
Meanwhile: A woman suspected of shooting a 13-year-old boy in the neck [turned the gun on herself as officers approached Sunday](, Arlington police said.
Also: [Dallas police officer was arrested Saturday in Irving]( on suspicion that she was driving while intoxicated.
And:Â [Three people were injured Sunday afternoon]( in a crash in Red Bird, officials said.Â

Irving ISD teacher denies sending tweet that called Florida school shooting survivor a 'crisis actor'
A tweet issued by the account of an Irving ISD educator on Saturday accused a Florida school shooting survivor of being a "crisis actor."
But the district official who owns the account, [math coordinator Julie Merrill, denies that she wrote the tweet and said she doesn't know who did.]( She confirmed that she had taken down her Twitter account.
The controversial tweet was a reply to David Hogg, a 17-year-old student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who has become an outspoken advocate for stronger gun laws and a target of conspiracy theories.Â
