Feral hog caused crash that killed 3 people in South Texas on Christmas Day, authorities say
An off-duty Border Patrol agent and two other people died on Christmas night [after one of them struck a wild pig southwest of Uvalde,]( authorities said.
Uvalde residents Ruby Garza and Julia Vasquez, both 51, were traveling on FM481 with two other people when Garza's Ford Expedition hit a feral hog about 11:50 p.m. Monday, the Uvalde Leader-News reported, citing the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash caused the Expedition to enter the opposite lane and strike a Mercedes SUV head-on. The cars became engulfed in flames. Antonio Cordova, a 27-year-old Border Patrol agent, was driving the SUV and died at the scene, according to the Leader-News.
And: A Dallas woman ripped paintings off the wall and threw sculptures around at a Houston lawyer's mansion over the weekend, [causing at least $300,000 in damage,]( police say.
Also: Several businesses [were badly damaged and some destroyed]( in a fire that broke out Tuesday morning at the Downtown Mini Mall in Denton.

According to a lawsuit filed last week in federal court, Garland ISD knew a special education teacher had broken a student's arm weeks before transferring the teacher to another school. There, parents say, the same teacher sexually assaulted two boys. (Google Maps)

Third lawsuit alleges Garland ISD knew about abuse as it transferred special ed teacher to another campus
A third lawsuit against a special education teacher, Garland ISD and several of the district's administrators has been filed in federal court, [alleging the physical and sexual abuse of teen boys.](
Not only did Michael Roell harm his students, the suits allege, district officials knew he had broken a student's arm in December 2015, weeks before they transferred him to Hudson Middle School in Sachse.
Guadalupe Mares says that within months, her son, now 16, was victimized at Hudson. Facts outlined in her Dec. 20 suit draw from those filed in June by Steven and Nora Schutt and in July by Cherish Hooper.

Bundle up, Dallas: On New Year's Eve it's out with the old and in with the arctic cold
You think it's chilly now?Â
By the time we roll into New Year's Eve, the low 40s we're enduring in North Texas on Tuesday might seem like a fond memory. The National Weather Service predicts the temperature in Dallas will plunge to the low 20s by Sunday night.
The New Year's Day [forecast calls for a high near 38.](
But it's too soon to say whether the cold front will bring any rain or snow as we usher in 2018, said Juan Hernandez, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Somewhere along the way, the man who came to Dallas 46 years ago with nothing lost count of all the somethings he has gathered since.
John Gasperik cannot tell you, for instance, how many guitars he has for sale at his music store called Shake Rag. Maybe 200. No, 300. Or more. Probably more. He can't tell you how many records he has. (Maybe 500,000?) Or what records he has.Â
Because they are everywhere â along the wall, under the old microphones and posters, behind the vintage T-shirts, next to the 1960s Beatles pinball machine and the 1960s receivers and 1921 Victrola.
