Man shot by officer at Arlington mall had called 911 to say he had gun, would shoot, police say
The man who was shot by an Arlington police officer after he pulled out a replica gun in a crowded shopping center Sunday [had called 911 earlier to say he had a gun and would use it,]( police say.
Security personnel and Arlington police were following William Paul Dodd, 21, about 4:20 p.m. Sunday after he stole two pairs of Ray-Bans from the Sunglass Hut in The Parks at Arlington mall, police Lt. Christopher Cook said.
As he fled, Dodd pulled out what was later determined to be an imitation firearm and pointed it at an on-duty Arlington officer, who fired multiple times, striking Dodd.
Dodd is at Medical City Arlington in critical condition. He is sedated and has not been able to speak to officers, Cook said.

Despite national scrutiny after Vegas shooting, Texas bump stock maker announces Cyber Monday sales
The Texas maker of the bump stock is not letting national scrutiny stand in the way of a good sale. Like many other retailers, Slide Fire [offered their product at a discount for Cyber Monday.](
The company, in the tiny Texas town of Moran near San Angelo, has been criticized since the aftermarket accessories were found in the hotel room of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock. Bump stocks attach to the end of semi-automatic rifles and allow a gun to fire at nearly automatic rates.
âWe will have a wide variety of products available for sale on Cyber Monday!â Slide Fire Solutions announced in an email on Friday, adding that inventory is limited and shipping will take up to two weeks.
Texas politics: Gov. Greg Abbott vows to [anoint longtime aide whoâs âa reliable conservativeâ]( if seat comes open on Texas Supreme Court.

Dallas native's medical testing company lands $1 million deal on 'Shark Tank'
A Dallas native who dived into the Shark Tank [walked away with a $1 million loan]( and the marketing savvy of a celebrity investor from the hit ABC show.
Julia Cheek is founder of EverlyWell, an Austin-based company that sells over 16 types of health tests ranging in price from $69 for a kit to measure testosterone levels to a $399 hormone levels test for women hoping to conceive.
Cheek, a Highland Park High School graduate, founded the company in Dallas in 2015 and moved its headquarters to Austin last year.

Finally...
After 43 years and millions of aircraft landings, DFW International Airport's [main arrival runway is getting a facelift.](
Officials announced Monday that the airport is receiving $52 million in federal grants, with most of the money earmarked for the roughly $160 million runway rehabilitation that's scheduled to take place next year.
The runway work kicks off a new round of infrastructure work following a multiyear, $2 billion upgrade of the terminal facilities. The new phase of investment will focus on the airport's airfield infrastructure, including its runways, taxiways, bridges and access roads, with a cost that could top $2 billion over the next decade.
