The Big Story
How some of D-FW's biggest companies are benefiting from Trump tax cuts
Since Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December, businesses have been scrutinizing its provisions to evaluate how it will impact their bottom lines. So far, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Throughout earnings season early this year, CEOs and CFOs have been praising the Trump tax cut and widely predicting that it will benefit the economy as a whole in 2018.
While some area companies like AT&T and American Airlines made a splash early on by offering bonuses to employees after the tax reform bill was signed, many will also use their expected savings to reduce debt and buy back stock to boost their share prices.
[We took a look at what some of the biggest publicly traded companies in D-FW have said]( about how they will be affected by the changes.

American makes largest jet order since 2011, spending billions at Boeing
American Airlines announced its largest aircraft order in nearly seven years Friday, with plans to buy 47 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to add to its wide-body fleet at a cost of billions of dollars.
The order will be split between two versions of the aircraft, with American acquiring 22 787-8s beginning in 2020 and 25 of the larger 787-9s starting in 2023.

Closed culinary school in Dallas revived as kitchen for budding restaurateurs
Pilotworks is the kind of place where there are never too many cooks in the kitchen.
Its new building in Dallas is hunting for more than 150 people to open small businesses -- catering operations, bakeries, ice cream companies and the like -- into the now-defunct Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts near Webb Chapel Road and 635.
[Pilotworks calls itself a "high fidelity culinary incubator" where chefs use shared ovens, stoves and specialized equipment instead of renting their own, often costly, kitchens.](
The start-up company has expanded from its first commercial kitchen in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 2016 to Chicago, Dallas and more. Small business owners, called "makers," pay for on-demand kitchen space, starting at $20 per hour. The kitchens are open 24 hours a day.
