Resources to inform and support your activism [afsc logo](   SATURDAY, AUGUST 3, 2024 Weekend Reading [Learn more about community efforts to grow medicinal plants in Guatemala.]( Photo: AFSC/Guatemala Dear Friend, Over the past year, AFSC has supported Ixil Mayan youth in Guatemala in revitalizing traditional medicine. In Guatemala, the community of Nebaj has seen a growing number of Western drugstores and rising medicine costs in recent years. Through this project, families in the community are now growing 35 different kinds of healing plants. They are providing free, natural remedies for the community while keeping their ancestral knowledge alive. The project is part of AFSC's work with communities worldwide to build a future where all people can thrive. [Watch this video to learn more.]( IN THE NEWS [We can never accept starvation as a weapon of war]( After nine months of Israel’s assault on Gaza, nearly the entire population faces high levels of food insecurity. Children are dying of starvation. Still, Israel continues to block most aid from entering Gaza. The international community must do more to end this humanitarian crisis.
