In today's newsletter: - Alaska’s[looming natural gas shortage]( is getting increased attention this week along with more talk about negative impacts that might occur as gas supply falls in the coming years. - Citing a difficult global market, the largest seafood company in the U.S. announced this week that it’s [looking to sell several of its facilities in Alaska]( and reduce its workforce by 10%. - A Western Alaska woman who died in 1979 and has long been revered by Orthodox believers in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region has been named [the first female Orthodox Church saint]( from North America. The origin of life is arguably the greatest unknown in science. It’s also a big reason NASA sent a robotic spacecraft on a multiyear journey around the sun to fetch material from an ancient asteroid and then bring it back to Earth.
