In today's newsletter: - The Alaska Senate rolled out its latest version of the operating budget Wednesday, which had a $90 million surplus, a $1,300 PFD, and a $175 million one-time boost for public schools. - A bill proposed by Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy to limit sexual education passed its first legislative hurdle this week after lawmakers significantly amended the measure. - The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District this week publicly shared a list of nearly 60 library books up for review after being flagged over concerns they arenât appropriate for school collections. The arrival of spring sunshine finally has the snow melting from many Alaska yards and lawns. Some education advocates say the amended bill would be overly burdensome on schools and not practical to implement.
