In today's newsletter: - A former chief of staff to the Anchorage mayor who was once his nominee to head the city's library has asked to restrict a controversial book from children on the public library’s shelves. - Anchorage’s recent municipal election had the lowest turnout in a citywide election since the switch to vote-by-mail, but it was still higher than city elections for Assembly members before the change. - The estimated number of beaver ponds in the Alaska Arctic doubled between 2003 and 2017. With the animals moving into tundra regions farther north, researchers are examining their impact more closely.
