It’s Wednesday, April 5. In today's newsletter: - Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson’s chief of staff, Adam Trombley, has resigned. His departure is the latest in a string of recent firings and resignations of the mayor’s top executives. - Anchorage Assembly incumbents and all but one candidate generally aligned with the current majority had wide leads in high-stakes races for seven Assembly seats, according to preliminary election results. - Also in Anchorage's municipal election, both incumbent school board members held wide leads to retain their seats, and early results showed strong support from voters for bonds and ballot propositions. Alaskans have a pretty heightened awareness when it comes to earthquakes, and with good reason (the 1964 Good Friday earthquake comes to mind). As historian David Reamer explains, there was another monstrous and deadly quake just a few years prior. In 1958, an earthquake generated [the largest tsunami in recorded history]( a megatsunami that struck Lituya Bay. Anchorage weather It's cloudy today with a high near 39 degrees and a slight chance of snow showers this afternoon. Thursday will start off overcast before becoming sunny later on, and we should see sunny skies on Friday. Daytime highs will range from the low to mid-30s over the next few days. Here’s what else is making headlines in Alaska today. — Megan Pacer, mpacer@adn.com Editor's note: We recently changed email systems, which is why this newsletter may look a little different from what you're used to.
