In today's newsletter: - Less than a month after an Alaska Department of Public Safety employee was killed during a fatal encounter with a musk ox, a group of residents is asking the state to change how it manages the animals. - The chief of police in Klawock in Southeast Alaska died unexpectedly Monday, leaving the village at least temporarily without a staffed police force. - The head of the state Division of Public Assistance is no longer in her post as the division's significant application backlog continues to leave recipients of food stamps and other benefits in search of relief.
