Email Preheader Text

There’s a young aboriginal boy who hunts with his family up north in Australia.  And once or twice a year, he and his uncles would hunt for crocodiles.  During the hunt…  The young boy would literally jump on the back of a crocodile.  Yep, you read that right.  A young boy jumping on the back of a crocodile.  The boy and the uncles would rope the crocodile, and then eat them afterward.  Now at this point, you’re probably thinking that this young boy has NO FEAR at all.  That this young boy must be the most fearless person in the world.  And you probably wish you had that same level of fearlessness as him, right?  Because where would your relationships and your wealth be today…  If you had no fear at all and you were able to:  - Make decisions in your life with speed - Put yourself out there without caring what anyone online says about you - Connect and stand tall with anyone (even celebrities and people you look up to)  Well, at the very least…  You’d achieve more in just one day than most people will ever achieve in weeks...even months...  Just because fear had no power over you.  But here’s the twist to this story.  When the young boy would get home at night…  He was so scared to go to sleep at night in the dark.  Why?  Because he was SCARED of SPIDERS.  What? How does that even work?  How can a young boy who jumped on the backs of crocodiles lose sleep over spiders?  Well, it’s because the boy had a story in his head that spiders can kill you.  But hang on. Can’t crocodiles kill you as well?  Aren’t they even more dangerous than spiders?  To the young boy, he had NEVER seen anyone he knew get killed by a crocodile before.  But in his village, he saw someone get bit by a spider and they had to go to a hospital.  Now the person who got bit by the spider didn’t even die.  They just had to go to a hospital.  But to the young boy, going to the hospital meant that you died.  This is a crazy story that I heard from my instructor, back when I used to be a snake handler.  And the lesson that the instructor taught us was that…  The young boy was NOT scared of the crocodile…  Because he UNDERSTOOD the crocodile (his uncles taught him how to hunt them).  But the boy was so scared of the spider…  Because he never UNDERSTOOD the spider.  So the boy thought the spider was more dangerous than the crocodile.  Here’s the truth.  When you don’t understand what you are scared of…  You’ll always be a slave to your own fears.  But when your wisdom of what you fear increases…  You get to meet your fear head on.  You get to DANCE with your fear (and not run away from it).  This was exactly how I got over my fear of snakes…  When I was catching the most venomous snakes in the boiling deserts of Western Australia.  And this was exactly how I got over my cringe-inducing fear of public speaking.  In fact, I used to be so afraid of public speaking that…  I would’ve rather locked myself in my own bedroom…  Just so I wouldn’t be able to face the hundreds of people that I would have to speak to.  But I got to the point where I LOVED public speaking.  Sure, even today, my heart still races when I do it.  But instead of running away from the fear…  Today, I’m excited by it and I say “bring it on. Let’s dance”.  Because when you UNDERSTAND what you’re scared of…  Fear TRANSFORMS into EXCITEMENT!  So ask yourself this question right after this email:  “What is one thing that I really want to do but I’m scared of?”  Then I want you to either speak to someone that has already conquered that fear that you have…  Or start Googling what you’re scared of so you can begin to UNDERSTAND it!  Because going into 2021, I’m letting go of any bullshit fears that held me back during 2020.  If you feel that 2020 has not been your year and you want to make a change in 2021…  Now is the time to do so.  See you tomorrow.
