Donald Trump is the greatest threat to democracy — and I’m not just talking about here in the United States. [Adam Schiff for Senate]( {NAME} — At the California Senate debate on Monday, Republican Steve Garvey claimed that our country was safer and more secure under President Donald Trump than under President Joe Biden. I couldn’t disagree more. Donald Trump is the greatest threat to democracy — and I’m not just talking about here in the United States. Worldwide, democratic countries are terrified of the prospect of a second Trump presidency. And they should be. During his time in the White House, Trump cozied up to Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin. He exchanged love letters with the dictator of North Korea, and has a warmer relationship with Kim Jong-un than the Canadian Prime Minister. He even threatened to abandon our NATO allies if there was an attack in Europe. And he extorted Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to open an investigation into President Biden — by withholding military aid for their war against Russia. That led to his first impeachment — where I served as lead impeachment manager in the Senate chamber. While President Biden has worked to restore our country’s standing with our allies, Trump would be like a bull in a china shop on the global stage — much to the delight of autocratic leaders worldwide. {NAME}, I have stood up against authoritarianism and in support of democracy for my entire career. From my chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee to leading Trump’s impeachment, to serving on the January 6 Select Committee, I have always put my oath of office and the Constitution first. That’s what this campaign is about — protecting our democracy and building an economy that works for everyone. Bringing truth to light and ensuring autocratic leaders who claim they alone can fix our problems never serve as president. [If you’re with me, today is an important day to show your support.
