Team — 14 years ago today, the Supreme Court issued its devastating decision in Citizens United

[Adam Schiff for Senate]( Team — 14 years ago today, the Supreme Court issued its devastating decision in Citizens United v. FEC, which allowed for a surge of corporate spending and dark money donations in political campaigns. That ruling was a terrible setback in the effort to reform our campaign finance system. In fact, it made the situation infinitely worse. I have a long history of fighting for campaign finance reform. Indeed, the first bill I authored in Congress was the House version of the landmark McCain-Feingold Act. And I am not accepting a dime from corporate PACs for my campaign to the United States Senate. Folks, since the Citizens United decision, our campaign finance system has allowed the rich and powerful to exercise enormous influence over our elections. Super PACs and mega-corporations have been able to translate their dollars into political influence. And recent reports allege that GOP super PACs are bending the rules even further to disguise who their donors are. Team, it is a top priority of mine to fix this broken system. It’s why I’m the lead author of the measure to repeal Citizens United through a Constitutional Amendment. Dark money has weakened the voices of our people — and I’m running for the U.S. Senate to restore those voices, give them a seat at the table, and make sure they are heard by their elected leaders. Because our democracy is fragile, and with leaders like Donald Trump trying to further bend and break the rules, it’s more important than ever that we preserve and defend our values. [If you agree with this mission — that our campaign finance system is broken and needs true, progressive reform — I hope you’ll pitch in now to support my campaign to serve California in the U.S. Senate. It’s more important than ever that our senators fight for our democracy every day — and that’s exactly what I’ll do.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [EXPRESS DONATE $10]( [EXPRESS DONATE $25]( [EXPRESS DONATE $50]( [EXPRESS DONATE $100]( [EXPRESS DONATE $250]( [ANOTHER AMOUNT]( Together, we’re rejecting the massive corporate influence in our political system. We will reform the system by passing my Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United. But to do that, and to stand up to the MAGA Republican Party’s millions of dollars in dark money donations, I need your grassroots support.
