I remember feeling fear. Sadness. Hopelessness. And then, finally, once the fighting was over and we had fulfilled our oath of certifying the election, feeling hope. [Adam Schiff for Senate]( Hi there — Few days in our country’s history have made as big of an impact on me, and on our democracy as January 6, 2021. I remember the January 6th attack on the Capitol like it was yesterday. The sounds of yelling. Of insurrectionists storming the Capitol building and breaking doors and windows to get in. Of the whispers between members of Congress deciding how to protect ourselves. The sight of Capitol police officers running toward danger. Of my colleagues crouched on the floor, clutching masks to protect themselves from tear gas. Of thousands of protestors assaulting Capitol Police and desecrating the hallowed halls of Congress. You could sense the fear and the urgency. And the anger over what this mob was doing to overturn a free and fair election. And then, finally, once the fighting was over and we had fulfilled our duty to certify the election, the recognition that our democracy had survived, but barely. Folks, I will remember that day for a long time. But I will also remember what my GOP colleagues in Congress did. After the rioting and the mayhem, a majority of Republican members still voted to overturn the election. Still. 147 members of Congress — many of whom are still in office today. Insurrectionists, too. Albeit in suits and ties. Since that day, we have seen nothing but continued threats to our Constitution and our democracy — by way of election deniers running for office, and members of Congress continuing to support Donald Trump, vowing to pardon him and try to erase history. Our democracy was battered and bruised on January 6, 2021, and it has not yet recovered. The number of Republicans who believe the election was stolen has been increasing since January 6, and that has only emboldened Trump and his MAGA followers even more. It’s going to take hard work by everyone to move this country forward and finally relegate Trump to the dustbin of history. But we will. We must be a country that can have political disagreements without resorting to violence and insurrection. [If you agree that we must take action now to preserve and protect our democracy for future generations, then I am respectfully asking you to add a contribution of $3 to my U.S. Senate campaign today to help me continue this important work.]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [EXPRESS DONATE $3]( [EXPRESS DONATE $10]( [EXPRESS DONATE $25]( [EXPRESS DONATE $50]( [EXPRESS DONATE $100]( [ANOTHER AMOUNT]( We will get through this difficult time in our history. America is a deeply resilient country filled with patriotic citizens who love our democracy, and those who do, vastly outnumber those trying to tear it down. Please take care of yourselves, and thank you for all your support during this pivotal time in our history. — Adam [Adam Schiff for Senate Banner]( [DONATE MONTHLY]( 135 E.
