Nobody trusts McCarthy, he can’t govern, and I’m not going to save him. [Adam Schiff for Senate]( BREAKING: Far-right Rep. Matt Gaetz has filed a “motion to vacate” in the House — a vote on whether to keep or remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House that is up for a vote TODAY. [Nobody trusts McCarthy, he can’t govern, and I’m not going to save him. Add your name to my petition if you agree Democrats should vote to kick McCarthy out of the Speaker’s office.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Friend, you can always count on Kevin McCarthy to do the right thing — only after he’s tried to do literally everything else. That’s the message I delivered on MSNBC’s Morning Joe: [Adam Schiff on set of MSNBC's Morning Joe]( McCarthy had tried everything to placate the far-right fringe of his caucus while refusing to work with Democrats ahead of an impending government shutdown last Saturday. Meaningless messaging bills. A bogus impeachment inquiry. Lurching from crisis to crisis. And finally, on the edge of a shutdown at 12:01 am Sunday morning, McCarthy relented — kicking the can down the road for 45 days. Here’s what I have to say about that: We need a Congress that works. One that can fund itself for more than 45 days at a time. But with Donald Trump leading the party and Kevin McCarthy leading the House, our Congress is completely dysfunctional. McCarthy is the weakest Speaker in the history of the country. He’s more concerned with remaining in Donald Trump’s good graces — even if it means turning a blind eye to his abuses of power and inciting a violent insurrection against our government on January 6. Now, far-right Rep. Matt Gaetz has filed a “motion to vacate” — essentially, a vote to kick McCarthy out of the Speaker’s office. I don’t have anything good to say about Matt Gaetz, not his politics, not his ethics, nothing. But this much is true: No one trusts Kevin McCarthy. McCarthy broke his word with the president over the debt ceiling deal. His own conference doesn’t trust him. And Democrats can’t trust a word that comes out of his mouth. He doesn’t stand for anything other than the desire to hold onto that Speaker’s gavel. [That’s why I’ll be voting to remove Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House today. Join me by adding your name to my urgent petition — we are voting TODAY.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( McCarthy has got to go. We can’t come this close to a default on our debt, or a government shutdown again. America deserves a Speaker that keeps their word and has some ability to govern. It’s that simple. — Adam [Adam Schiff for Senate Banner]( [DONATE MONTHLY]( 135 E.
