It is critical that we move forward in a way that honors our values even as we take on the most unscrupulous Republican Party leader in our history. [Adam Schiff for Senate]( This is a longer email, but it’s important, so please stick around. It is no secret that major Senate campaigns like this are notoriously fast-paced and stressful. They require long hours, tough deadlines, and push us to grow in new and unexpected ways. Despite all of that being a reality, I am determined to run this campaign the right way, where we lead with values and ensure a healthy and growth-centered environment for everyone on this team — and have fun! I recently shared these guiding principles with my campaign team, and as you are also a member of our team, I wanted to share them with you as well: The Most Important Rule Above all else, we must respect each other, our competitors, our supporters, and every single person we encounter on this campaign, including our most ardent opponents. By treating each other with dignity, we create a culture of respect that extends beyond our campaign. Everyone Is Welcome Anyone and everyone has a home in this campaign and should feel like they can be a part of the political process and can get involved if they want to join the team. We should always prioritize engaging everyone who offers to help and make use of their talent and contribution to the whole. Here, Right Matters We must always stand up for what is right, even when it’s hard. We must never turn a blind eye, even if it adversely affects the campaign. This is a guiding ethos of our values and strategy. A Campaign That Looks Like California California is the most diverse state in our nation. We can and must build a team and coalition that represents that diversity, not just in our makeup but by making sure that diverse backgrounds and opinions are represented and respected at the decision-making table. No Job Too Big Or Small Each task, project, or assignment we work on is important and deserves our attention and respect, regardless of its size or complexity. We should all show willingness to take on any task and to show a positive attitude toward work. We will approach every job with the same level of commitment and dedication, regardless of its perceived importance or difficulty. In the same vein, all work will be valued. Show Our Math This is a campaign of ideas and substance. That requires honesty and an adherence to the truth. We will not shy away from hard questions or hard decisions, and we will always be clear in explaining our logic to each other and to others. And always with respect. Hold Ourselves To The Highest Standards This will be an exceptional campaign, and it requires exceptional performance. Campaigns naturally encourage us to do too many things at once. We must always ask ourselves, “is this something we can accomplish with excellence?” If not, we should set it aside and focus on what we can excel at. Excel As A Team We are a team, and this team can only succeed if every single member of that team knows they are valued and supported. Whether that means chipping in when a teammate needs support, listening to new ideas, or advocating for the needs of this team, we will only excel together. Campaigns often require long days, stressful moments, dedication, and commitment — even when things are hard. Giving your teammates grace in the hard times can be even more important than in the good times. Show kindness, forgiveness, and understanding when a teammate makes a mistake. By giving your teammates grace, we can strengthen our relationships, foster a culture of trust and empathy, and create a supportive and positive environment for yourself and others. To Err Is Human Over the course of this campaign, we will all make mistakes. It is inevitable! But it is incumbent upon all of us to own those mistakes, learn from them, and ensure we do not make them again. Enjoy The campaign will be challenging and at times stressful, but it will also be fun, exciting, suspenseful and uplifting. Life is too short not to enjoy your work, and be sure to laugh and have fun out there! It is critical that we move forward in a way that honors our values even as we take on the most unscrupulous Republican Party leader in our history.
