He praised Putin as “smart,” lambasted his first impeachment as a “scam,” and attacked me. [Adam Schiff for Congress]( {NAME} — Right now, the world is witnessing the barbaric invasion of a democracy by an authoritarian madman. And what was Donald Trump focused on during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Committee last night? That’s right. Attacking me. He praised Putin as “smart,” lambasted his first impeachment as a “scam,” and attacked me. Repeatedly. I know. I couldn’t believe it either. Here are just some of Trump’s attacks on me last night: “The worst are the politicians, the toughest are the politicians, the meanest are the politicians. And the biggest lying scum are the politicians, like Adam 'Shifty’ Schiff... We’re dealing with some people that are truly evil, truly bad people.” It’s worth remembering what the first impeachment was actually about. It was about Trump withholding hundreds of millions of dollars from Ukraine that Congress provided to help that country defend itself against the Russians. And why? Because he wanted to extort Ukraine into smearing his opponent. That’s right. He demanded a “favor” from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — to investigate Joe Biden — in exchange for defensive weapons to hold off Russian aggression and attacks, like the one we’re witnessing now. This is all to say, Donald Trump is a craven liar who only cares about one thing — Donald Trump. Not right, or truth, or decency. And certainly not our democracy or the one in Ukraine. But here’s the issue with this latest attack by twice-impeached, failed former president Donald Trump. These attacks have a real and damaging effect. Seconds after he delivered this smear against me, Twitter users were sharing it, and news articles popped up repeating his attack. And it takes a real toll. Especially as I have to run for reelection and introduce myself to tens of thousands of new voters in my recently redrawn district. That’s why I need your help. [Can you help us fight back against Trump’s lies and attacks about me by chipping in $10? While you or I might not pay much attention to the former president anymore, his attacks add up and take a real toll.
