We have an important month ahead of us, {NAME}. The Senate will vote on key bills including the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. These vital bills are our best hope at halting the wave of Jim Crow voter suppression laws passed by Republican-controlled states before next year’s midterm elections. And they are essential if we are to put an end to the Republican plan to gerrymander Democrats out of the House majority for the next decade. Perhaps permanently. It’s crucial that the Senate abolish the filibuster so we can turn these bills into laws. We must do everything possible to stop the GOP’s destructive attempts at undermining our democracy in their pursuit of power. If the Senate fails to pass voting protections or to prevent Republicans from gerrymandering districts, we’ll be facing a massive disadvantage next November. We have to act. Because our democracy is hanging in the balance. To add to the importance of this month, the House will vote on the infrastructure bill and finalize the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. We have a narrow window of opportunity to address climate change, expand Medicare, invest in affordable housing, and so much more. This is the moment.
