{NAME}, Breaking News — President Trump over Twitter just pardoned his ally and former national security advisor, Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI: Trump has been hinting this was coming for quite some time, so while it’s not surprising, it doesn’t change how deeply destructive it is to our democratic ideals. This pardon sends a clear message: if you lie or cover up wrongdoing on behalf of Donald Trump, he will reward and protect you — that is, if it’s in his own interest and you stayed loyal. Once again, the President of the United States is acting like an organized crime boss. It’s a clear abuse of presidential power for personal gain, and it reflects so poorly on our democracy and who we are as a nation in the eyes of the world. This is who Trump was while he campaigned, it’s who he was at the beginning of his presidency, and it’s who he is now at the end of it. But we the people can stand up once more and make it clear: it’s not okay. And Flynn’s pardon will likely not be the end of it. Trump may pardon others, like Paul Manafort, and has reportedly even explored with his counsel whether he can pardon himself, with one foot out the door. I believe this wouldn't be constitutional, and Congress must go on record opposing such a flagrant abuse. Though Trump is on his way out of the Oval Office, there is still something we can do to stop this crooked behavior from staining our country in the future. I’ve introduced legislation in Congress to curb the abuse of the pardon power and hope you will support it. [Join me in speaking out against Trump’s corrupt pardon of Michael Flynn and demand Congress pass the Protecting Our Democracy Act to prevent this kind of abuse of the pardon power from ever happening again: add your name now.]( [ADD YOUR NAME]( Thank you once again for standing up for our democracy, Adam Paid for and authorized by Schiff for Congress Schiff for Congress 150 E.
