[Adam Schiff for Senate]( {NAME} — take a look at this photo I found of myself as a young boy. [Adam as a young boy]( (I'm guessing that this is probably, what, around fifth grade?) This throwback photo is for all the students and educators who are back to school this fall. Growing up, education was really important to me and my family, and it remains a top priority for me in my work every day. And {NAME}, when it comes to educating our kids, the MAGA agenda gets a giant F. A key part of their Project 2025 and Trump's agenda… abolishing the Department of Education. Former Trump official Mike Pompeo once said "the most dangerous person in the world" isn't an autocrat like Russia's Putin or China's Xi — it's the American Federation of Teachers' President Randi Weingarten. This absurd claim would be laughable if it didn't come from a high-ranking government official. From my very first days as an elected official, I've fought to put teachers first. As a California state senator in Sacramento, I wrote the legislation to secure cost-of-living increases for teacher pensions, to update textbooks in California's K-12 public schools, and to provide a longer school year. In Congress, I helped deliver millions in grant funds for Early Head Start and youth development programs in our district, and millions more for Pell grants. But we need to do more. From funding meal programs to provide nutritious, free breakfasts and lunches to every child, to lowering classroom sizes so each teacher can devote more attention to their students.
