As the finance chair of the Republican National Committee, DeJoy raised and contributed millions to GOP candidates. He was investigated by the FBI for an alleged straw donor scheme with his employees where he would award bonuses as kickbacks for political contributions. His family is heavily invested in a direct competitor of the USPS — and one of his first acts as Postmaster General was to award that private company with a $120 million contract. He slowed down the mail during the 2020 election at the height of the pandemic and has repeatedly raised prices while providing worse service. He even attempted to purchase 90% gasoline-powered vehicles for the Postal Service fleet instead of moving to a greener fleet until we passed legislation and he finally gave in.
