[Adam Schiff for Senate]( {NAME} — Take a look at this photo. That’s me when I left the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles as a young prosecutor to run for office. [Adam Schiff as a young prosecutor]( [In just a second, I’m going to ask you to pitch in $2 to send the guy in this picture to the U.S. Senate. But first, let me explain:]( [DONATE $2]( One of the unique cases I took on as a young prosecutor involved a corporation that hired toxic waste haulers to smuggle hazardous materials across the border into Mexico. The U.S. government had just put in place additional environmental rules to protect our drinking water and our communities. This made it harder to dump chemicals and toxic waste in the U.S. and was critical for water safety. A company paid the haulers to smuggle the waste across the border and dump it in Mexico. We found dozens of drums that used to carry this hazardous waste there, from paints to flammable solvents and other toxic materials. We also intercepted a fair amount of other cargo intended to be dumped. Unfortunately, people living in these areas emptied the drums, filled them with water, and washed clothes in them, among other unknowingly dangerous uses. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, I took on this waste dumping corporation — and won. It was the first federal prosecution for across-the-border toxic waste dumping ever. It set an important precedent: that no company, big or small, could avoid accountability when harming our planet and putting the health of communities at risk, at home or abroad. Back to the present: pitching in $2, or any amount you can spare, can help us have the resources to get me to the U.S. Senate — where I will continue to hold any corporations polluting our planet accountable. [So please, if you can, will you pitch in $2 or more today to help me make it to the Senate to help pass important legislation to protect our planet, create more green jobs, and build cleaner infrastructure?]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [EXPRESS DONATE $2]( [EXPRESS DONATE $10]( [EXPRESS DONATE $25]( [EXPRESS DONATE $50]( [EXPRESS DONATE $100]( [ANOTHER AMOUNT]( Thanks for reading and learning more about my work to protect our environment. — Adam [Adam Schiff for Senate Banner; text Schiff to 724433]( [DONATE MONTHLY]( 135 E.
