The legal cannabis industry generated $33 billion in sales last year, creating tax revenue used to support public goods like roads and schools. Enough is enough. Convictions for minor, nonviolent offenses have destroyed lives, torn apart families, and led to the disproportionate incarceration of people of color. It’s time for Washington to get with the times and remove cannabis from the federal list of controlled substances. It’s time to make our justice system fairer and begin to rectify the damage of the most destructive elements of the War on Drugs.
