Since the beginning of the year the market has been... [View this email in your browser]( [adam]Dear Reader, Since the beginning of the year the market has been... Challenging. The Dow is down 10.3%, the S&P 500 has dropped 13.58% and the Nasdaq has collapsed a full 20.05%! And many individual names suffered a far worse fate. I'm not even bringing up the highs where we came from! Peloton started the year at $35.20 (already down from $100+), and now it's trading at $12.34. BigCommerce almost 50% YTD, from $37.35 to $18.82, and DraftKings went from 27.77, on January 1st, to 17.96 - a 35% sell off. But that's not the scariest part. Tesla, the darling of tech stocks is down 27.9% YTD, meaning that company has lost almost 1/3rd of its value over the last seven months. Over the same time frame Snowflake fell from 332 to 165 - more than a 50% drop in value! PayPal is off 51.1% YTD. And Meta (FB), has lost 25.7% in the last 6 months, and 50.64% since January 1st. Owning individual names doesn't make sense. But when you have these kinds of drops, it's hard to look away from the opportunity they present. That's where ETF's come in. ETF's make up a basket of stocks. This diversity offers protection. It slows everything down so the moves aren't extreme. If you have the right idea but the wrong stock, you can still win. By definition, ETF's also move a little bit slower so you get the excitement of being involved but also the lifestyle to go with it. Our Smart Trades service uses options to target specific ETF's for a set period of time. It's disciplined, easy to get in and easy to stay in. So far in 2022, it's only made 13 trades. In January we bought calls in XOP (an Oil and Gas ETF). By buying those calls, we had ownership in names like Marathon, Exxon, ConocoPhillips and Occidental Petroleum. We bought 5 contracts for $1.00. We sold them for $3. That's $1,000 in pure profit on a single small trade. Then we bought puts in SMH (a Semiconductor ETF). We thought the sector would move lower. We don't short anything here at AMTG, because a short is an unlimited risk trade. Instead we buy options so we have defined risk and can still get the rewards if we are right. SMH includes companies like NVIDIA, Texas Instruments, Micron, AMAT and more. We were playing for a move lower and as you know, that's what happened. We bought 4 of the puts for $1.25, again risking $500. We sold those contracts for $3.75. Again, another $1,000 or $2.50 per contract. Smart Trades was up 100% in January on only 2 low risk trades. We didn't work hard, we worked Smart. Most recently we made very similar trades in TLT, and XBI. TLT delivered another 100% winner in just 5 trading days (closed August 1st), and XBI handed subscribers a 40% gain overnight! [Access Now]( In the interest of full transparency - and so no one can ever accuse me and my team of cherry picking trades, we did have a few small losses. Back in February a trade in IWM went against us to the tune of $150. And again in April we lost $276 in TLT. However, when you add all the winners and losers for this year - the SmartTrades portfolio has paid subscribers $204.15 for each and every trade they made this year. That's not only winning trades, that's the average profit per trade - including every trade we made. We didn't work hard, we worked Smart. [Access Now]( Now, you can too! Sponsor Message: [adam]( More Critical than Lithium?]( Lithium may have grabbed the headlines as a key material in building electric vehicles (EVs). But so is copper. And copper's importance in the new green economy goes far beyond EVs. Copper is critical in building wind turbines and solar panels. It's key to power lines and upgrading the national grid. Analysts say we're facing a 10-million-ton shortfall if new copper mines are not found. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
